Wedding Photography in Hanko, Outdoor Ceremony, Bellevue & Celebration at Hanko City Hall
Wedding Photography in Hanko, Finland | Studio Happy Moment
Hanko has a quality that is hard to describe but impossible to miss. The sea, the old villas, the summer light that lingers long past evening. S& R’s wedding day felt exactly like the town itself, warm, personal and full of details that meant something.
This couple holds a special place in my story for another reason too: at their wedding, I met a guests who would later become a bride and groom theirself — and I was there for that wedding as well. Some connections carry further than a single day.
First Look at the Church Park
The day began at Hanko’s church park, where the couple saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. The bride arrived in a dress she had designed herself, every detail considered, every line entirely her own. The groom wore a elegant beige suit and a felt hat that suited him perfectly. On his wrist, quietly present throughout the day, was a family heirloom pocket watch, a thread connecting this moment to those who came before.
An Outdoor Ceremony by the Sea
The ceremony took place outside, directly in front of the church, with the sea stretching out behind them. No hall, no ceiling, just open sky, the water and the people they love. Simple and perfect, in the most Hanko way possible.
Portraits at Bellevue and Around Town
The official portraits were taken at Bellevue beach, where the sea views gave every frame a natural, effortless beauty. Along the way we stopped among Hanko’s red painted cottages, those small wooden houses with their green gardens are exactly the Hanko I love to photograph.
The Celebration at Hanko City Hall
The reception was held at Hanko City Hall, whose interiors gave the evening an intimate yet elegant atmosphere.
And the food was completely, perfectly them. The couple had cooked themselves: a traditional Finnish salmon soup as the main course, alongside a vegan soup so that every guest would find something on the table. There were cold cuts, salads, cheeses and a homemade mushroom pie. For dessert, a beautiful Pavlova, light, delicate and the ideal ending to the day.
When food is made by hand, it tastes different. It tastes like love.
A Connection That Carries On
After this wedding, the story continued in an unexpected way, later I photographed the wedding of one of the guests from this very day. In wedding photography, connections are made that reach far beyond a single afternoon.
