Some wedding days carry a quality you feel from the very first hour. Jenni and Sampo’s summer wedding was exactly that kind of day, Helsinki, Espoo, golden evening light and two people ready to say yes. I had the honour of being their wedding photographer, and it’s a day I’ll remember for a long time.
First Look — Seeing Each Other for the First Time
The morning began with a first look, that private moment when the couple sees each other for the first time on their wedding day. Nervous, tender, completely real. These moments can’t be staged. They simply happen. After that we moved on to bridal portraits before the ceremony.
The Ceremony at Helsinki Cathedral
Jenni and Sampo said their vows at Helsinki Cathedral, one of the most iconic and breathtaking venues in all of Finland. After the ceremony, we took advantage of the quiet city and captured portraits in front of the House of the Estates and the Bank of Finland, both of which offer a stunning historic backdrop right in the heart of Helsinki.
The Reception at Espoo Manor
The celebration continued at Espoo Manor, where the evening was filled with warmth, laughter and beautifully curated details. The couple served an entirely vegan menu, delicious, thoughtful and a little unexpected in the best way. One of the evening’s most memorable touches was a board where guests wrote date night ideas for the newlyweds a personal keepsake they’ll return to for years to come. A wedding crossword puzzle kept guests entertained throughout the evening.
Espoo Manor itself is a wedding photographer’s dream, yellow walls, antique portraits, wooden parquet floors and rooms that feel like they hold stories.
Sunset Portraits. A Golden Ending
As the evening deepened, I brought the couple outside for a few final frames. Soft golden light, the warmth of a Finnish summer evening, and two people who had just lived the best day of their lives. The sunset portraits were the perfect closing note, everything the day had been, captured in light.
