Wedding Photography in Helsinki, Finland | Studio Happy Moment
Helsinki had a surprise in store that day — rain. But Mirkka and Petrus were exactly the kind of couple that no weather can dampen. I had the honour of photographing their ceremony and portraits, and the day carried that particular atmosphere that only real moments can hold.
Portraits Before the Ceremony
We began with portraits in the city centre. The terrace of Hotel Klaus K offered a stunning backdrop against Helsinki’s skyline. In Ruttopuisto we photographed among the fresh green trees, and the bright yellow facade of Pääportti brought warm tones to the frames.
When the rain arrived, we moved inside — and Rake-sali’s golden arches and large windows turned out to be a beautiful alternative. Sometimes the weather turns the best surprises into the most beautiful photographs.
When the rain finally eased, we headed back outside — and the city with its wet streets and soft light was made for wedding portraits.
The Ceremony at Helsingin vanha kirkko
Helsingin vanha kirkko is one of the city’s most beautiful and intimate wedding venues. Its historic details, pale walls and paintings created a solemn and deeply personal atmosphere for Mirkka and Petrus’s vows.
Group Photos at Rake-sali
After the ceremony we returned to Rake-sali to photograph the couple with the maid of honour and best men. The golden details, tall windows and the room suspended above Helsinki’s rooftops made for a wonderful setting for these portraits.
