The day began in the Seinäjoki room at Hotel Alma, filled with laughter and last-minute details — the dress waiting on its hanger, the rings catching the light on the table. It continued in the bright hall of Lakeuden risti, where Charlotta was walked down the aisle by the two most important men in her life: her son and her younger brother. And it ended on the meadow and dance floor of Ruusula, where teams raced to assemble an IKEA stool, Mexican tortillas outshone any traditional wedding menu, and a live painter captured the whole evening on canvas.
Getting Ready — Hotel Alma, Seinäjoki Room
The day started in the Seinäjoki room at Hotel Alma, and the whole close circle was already there: the bride, the groom, the bridesmaids and the best man getting ready together in the same space. It set the tone from the first minute — laughter, nerves, small details, final touches, all under one roof.
The Ceremony at Lakeuden Risti
Lakeuden risti is one of Seinäjoki’s architectural treasures — designed by Alvar Aalto, and often called one of Finland’s most beautiful churches. It gave the ceremony a stunning, timeless backdrop. But the most beautiful part wasn’t the building — it was the moment Charlotta walked down the aisle, escorted by her son and her younger brother. The two most important men in her life, step by step.
The ceremony was warm and personal, and it built to a moment you rarely see: right after the vows, the couple stood together and sang a song, right there in the church. The guests fell silent. I got chills too. It was one of those moments that stays with everyone who was in the room.
A classic blue Volkswagen Beetle waited outside the church to carry the couple to the reception.
The Reception at Ruusula
The reception was held at Ruusula, and the couple’s portraits were taken on the green meadow right beside it — natural light, trees, and summer at its very best.
At Ruusula, every detail showed that this couple knew exactly what kind of day they wanted. Dinner was Mexican tortillas — relaxed, delicious, and about as far from a traditional wedding menu as you can get, and it suited them perfectly.
One of the evening’s highlights was a game you don’t see at many weddings: the groom’s side versus the bride’s side, racing to assemble an IKEA stool. The laughter was loud, the competition was fierce, and the result was exactly as chaotic as you’d expect.
The program kept going all evening. Guests played a round of Kahoot built entirely around the couple’s own history, of course. Then Charlotta stepped up to the microphone and performed a song of her own. And just when it seemed like the night might wind down — Dennis got up on stage with his friends, and the wedding turned into a proper party.
All evening, quietly off to the side, an artist worked away — painting the celebration live, in real time. A keepsake that will hang on their wall for decades.
