A Warm Welcome to You and Your Little One
Congratulations on the upcoming or recent arrival of your beautiful baby! These first few weeks are a magical and precious time, passing by in the blink of an eye. First off, take a deep breath. Our priority is to create a peaceful, stress-free experience for you, where you can simply focus on your baby. This guide is here to walk you through everything you need to know, from scheduling and prop choices to how to prepare your family, so you can feel confident and relaxed about our time together. I am truly honored you have chosen me to capture these unforgettable first moments for your family.

Planning the Schedule
The best newborn portraits are usually captured within the first two weeks of your baby’s life. During these first days, babies sleep deeply and can be easily curled into those adorable, womb-like poses.
Since the timing is crucial, it’s best to book your session while you are still pregnant. Once you have an estimated due date, get in touch with me so I can pencil you in. Since babies rarely arrive exactly on their due date, just send me a message as soon as your little one is born, and we will finalize the exact date and time for your session.

Checklist for Props and Accessories
You will find most of the newborn photography props in my studio. I have a passion for collecting different wraps, hats, and baskets! I will select the props before you arrive, but if you have a specific style in mind, let me know beforehand.
If you want to add a personal touch to the photos, I recommend bringing items such as:
- Blankets (especially if they are special, like hand-knitted by a grandmother).
- Your own hats or beanies.
- Personal items that reflect your family (e.g., a specific hobby, a sports team, or a family heirloom).

How to Prepare the Baby for the Shoot
A well-fed baby is a satisfied and sleepy baby! It is recommended to feed the baby right before the session starts. If the baby is breastfed, please be prepared to feed them during the session as well to help them fall into a deep sleep.
- Tummy troubles: Ensure the baby burps properly. A baby with trapped gas is not relaxed and might feel uncomfortable in certain poses.
- Skin concerns: Don’t worry about dry skin, small scratches, or baby acne. These can be easily and professionally retouched during the editing process.
- Clothing: Dress your baby in loose-fitting clothes (like a simple zip-up onesie) before you arrive. Avoid tight socks or clothing that leaves red marks on their delicate skin.

Preparing the Family for the Shoot
For family portraits, I recommend wearing simple, solid-colored clothing. Older siblings can be dressed in soft, neutral tones that match the overall vibe of the session.
Hair and makeup: Keep it simple and natural.
Hands and nails: Pay attention to your hands! Remember that the parents' and siblings' hands will be visible in close-up shots holding the baby. Make sure your nails are clean and neatly trimmed—this is surprisingly important!

Session Duration
Be prepared to spend around 2 to 3 hours at the studio. Why so long? Because the baby dictates the pace. We allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, changing diapers, and gently posing the baby. There is absolutely no rush, and the atmosphere is kept calm and peaceful.

One Final Note…
Please remember that no m matter what your baby does during our session, I remain completely calm and understanding. I work with newborns all the time—trust me, I’ve seen it all! This is meant to be a beautiful, stress-free experience for you, so please don’t worry if your little one gets fussy or starts to cry. Babies are incredibly intuitive and easily pick up on r tension, which usually just upsets them more.
We h have set aside more than enough time for your shoot. If we need to hit pause for feeding, extra cuddles, or simply walking around to soothe the baby, we will absolutely do that. My biggest wish is for you to truly relax and enjoy this experience as a ecial bonding moment for your family.
