Pre-Wedding Session at Malmi Airport — Pizza, a Picnic and a Runway

Some ideas come together spontaneously — and those are often the best ones. This couple wanted something different. Not a park, not a beach. Something nobody else had done.
So we started at Pizza Hut and drove to Malmi Airport.
From Pizza Hut to the Runway
The session began simply — pizza was picked up, wine was packed into a basket and off we went. Malmi Airport offered a backdrop unlike anything else: an endless runway, an open sky and that particular stillness that settles over places where something has already come to an end.
The picnic blanket was laid out directly on the runway. Pizza was eaten, wine was poured into blue glasses and a book was read aloud. In the background, one last plane flew overhead — like a final greeting from an airport about to close its doors.
Malmi Airport — a One-of-a-Kind Location
Malmi Airport has since closed, and these photographs are a memory of the place as it was. The runway, the SEIS stop sign, the yellow fields all around and that atmosphere — half melancholy, half adventurous.
The sunset brought the day to a close. Silhouettes against the evening sky, pink hair blowing in the wind and that feeling of being together, wherever that may be.
